Eaglercraft is a family of lightweight, browser-based clients and forks designed to run Minecraft Classic and older Java editions inside a web browser using WebGL and WebAssembly technologies. The project emerged from a desire to recreate the familiar single-player and multiplayer experiences of legacy Minecraft builds without the overhead of a full Java installation, enabling play on low-powered devices, Chromebooks, or systems where installing the official client is impractical. Over time Eaglercraft evolved through multiple numbered releases and forks, each adding compatibility, performance improvements, and convenience features while remaining focused on nostalgia and accessibility.
