The film revolves around Raj (Shah Rukh Khan), a young man with mental and physical disabilities who lives with his mother, Armaan (Sushma Swaraj). One day, Raj meets and befriends an alien named Jai (played by an uncredited actor). As their bond grows, Jai helps Raj overcome his limitations and find love with Sonia (Preity Zinta), a beautiful and kind-hearted woman.
